Sky Map

June is a great month to see the constellation Virgo, named after the goddess of the harvest, fertility, and marriage. Virgo has taken on many different incarnations since the ancient times. The Egyptians thought that this constellation represented their mother goddess Isis while the Romans believed her to be Ceres, the goddess of agriculture.

To find Virgo, look directly overhead to see the bright star Spica, which is the center of this star pattern. To the right of Virgo is the planet Saturn.

Nighttrek alert!
The International Space Station (ISS) will travel overhead on June 23 @ 9:15 p.m. Look southwest.
